DESCRIPTION

This event is strategical because the participants will be entitled to co-create new tangible exercises based on TUIs paradigm on first version of BLUE ARROW kit (O2). The event, that will last two days, will be composed by two parts each:

DAY 1

Part 1 – Theoretical aspects

-Describe the BLUE ARROW project and its aims.
-Provide information about the Pedagogical Framework delivered.
-Provide information about Tangible User Interfaces and their technologic potentials.

Part 2 – Knowing the system

-Provide some examples of BLUE ARROW exercises drafted by the Consortium.
-Evaluation of exercises.
-Provide a template for the creation of exercises that contains a simple structure for the implementation of the game, highlighting the aims of the exercises (e.g. training logical skills, improving language competences, etc.).

DAY 2

Part 1 - Hands-on sessions

-Create little groups for the co-creation of proposal of exercises
-Brainstorming of potential exercises

Part 2 - Debriefing

-Provide the proposals of the exercises/games to the working group
-Discuss and refine the games

The co-created OERs will have a double nature:
• Completely digital (to promote digital creativity);
• Encompassing the hybrid approach (digital + physical).
The delivered OERs will aim to bridge the gap between the virtual environment of most game-based learning tools and the physical, tangible world of the real objects, by providing a hybrid approach (which partakes of both the digital and physical dimensions at the same time). This is possible by utilising the Tangible User Interfaces (TUIs) paradigm, i.e. the setting that enables the learner to interact with everyday life-objects, smells, tastes, etc.
The participants will use the OER Authoring Tool embedded in the BLUE ARROW system (delivered in M13).
The Boards are equipped with an antenna reading the NFC (Near Field Communication). Thin clips are the tags (https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5aa16619a722600001c19c3b/5b4650ffd7410a16a02b0e1f_img formfactor.jpg) that can be put on every tangible object and bring a univocal ID, recognized by the system and directly connected with the story. This transforms tangibles in Smart Objects. In this way, for example, a jar that contains a certain odour equipped with an NFC tag (i.e. basilic leaves) is recognized by the board allowing the creation of hybrid exercises.

The BLUE ARROW platform will orchestrate the interaction between the Smart Objects and the exercises. The participants will create their exercises guided by project’ staff and will plan how to apply the Tangible Interfaces.

It will represent the first national event, starting from Italy. In other countries will be done with the same structure.

TARGET & ROLES

The event will involve 10 local participants. They will be in the field of Techer education:

Teacher educators

Researchers in the field

Trainers

Caregiver

AIMS

(1) Involve other organizations (HEIs and third sector)

(2) Increase the awareness on the BLUE ARROW project

(3) Disseminate the results and namely the Pedagogical Framework (IO1)

(4) Evaluate the first exercises drafted by the Partnership

(5) Co-Create new exercises using the first prototype of authoring tool based on TUI parading with experts in the field

PARTNERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES

UNIFG will organize and host the event coordinate its diffusion and supervise its organization in terms of participants, agenda, budget and logistics. The team will create a dedicated webpage for diffusing the event and display all necessary information about the programme, venue and registration.
SM will participate providing technical support.
